Joining forces creates a newfound synergy for both firms, which specialize in complementary sectors of workplace design. CannonDesign excels at creating environments for global companies—their recent Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, a collaboration with Neuf Architect(e)s, recently took home two Best of Year Awards for Outdoor and Pièce de Résistance. Meanwhile, Assembly Design Studio, whose Pittsburgh office for Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group also received a Best of Year accolade in 2016, has carved a niche delivering agile workplaces for tech startups and software brands. The joining of forces, says CannonDesign CEO Brad Lukanic, will “take us beyond where even our clients can imagine.”

Founded by former Studio O+A designers Denise Cherry and Liz Guerrero in 2016, Assembly Design Studio’s star-studded client roster encompasses the likes of Uber, Pinterest, Cisco, and Zillow. “By joining CannonDesign, we’re able to connect our clients and team to an exciting new network of of capabilities and opportunities,” says Cherry. “We maintain our strong tech expertise, but can now also tap into the incredible backbone of a firm with more than 100 years of experience in essentially all markets.”

Cherry and Guerrero, along with their team of interior and brand designers, will join CannonDesign as principals in the firm’s corporate/commercial interiors practice, Assembly will conduct business as Assembly / CannonDesign until a future transition to the CannonDesign name.
