Coverings is going above and beyond to bring attention to tile,a widely versatile, durable, and long-lasting material. To gear up for the largest stone and tile show in North America, Coverings is bringing back National Tile Day on February 23. Simply tag your tile photos with #NationalTileDay, #WhyTile, and #Coverings2018 to participate.
“National Tile Day is rooted in a desire to celebrate the many great benefits tile has to offer as a material,” explains Alena Capra, industry ambassador for Coverings. “We’re encouraging the architecture and design community to get inspired by tile.”
There’s a lot to be inspired by, too. Designers have been pushing the capabilities of tile in recent years, thanks to the expansion of digital printing and better processing techniques. According to Capra, some major trends to look out for include:
- 3-D tile work, which adds flair and dimension to otherwise ordinary walls
- Textile, stone, and wood-inspired products, which combine the visual appeal of these materials with tile’s ease of maintenance and environmentally friendly characteristics
- Black and white tile, a classic combination updated to include digitally printed images and one-of-a-kind designs
National Tile Day serves as a precursor for Coverings, held this year in Atlanta from May 8-11. The show covers all the major products, trends, and innovations in the tile and stone industry within the past year, and will host more than 1,100 exhibits, 45+ sessions (some with CEUs), and a multitude of professional networking opportunities.
