Fabergé Hides Giant Eggs in NYC


Starting April 1, is welcoming the spring season in a huge way: will hide 260 massive egg sculptures (each roughly 2.5 feet tall) throughout the five boroughs of New York. Each piece is a unique work by the likes of , , , , and . New Yorkers and tourists alike are invited to hunt down the eggs and check-in via a smartphone app that will reveal the locations to other users as well.

Come April 18th, the eggs will be collected and displayed all together for one week in Rockefeller Center, followed by an auction at to sell the pieces. Mini replicas and other merchandise will also be available at pop-up egg huts as well as Saks Fifth Avenue. All proceeds will go to , an organization that brings arts programs to public schools, and , an organization working to save the Asian elephant.
