Best of Year
Los Angeles and New York couldn’t be more different—and, yet, they’re also so similar. New York is a high-density, high-rise city, while L.A. is all hills and sprawl. But both cities are their respective coastal capitals and home to the most exciting real estate development projects. We took a deep dive into the Big Apple with our first two PowerGrids in 2017 and 2018. Now it’s L.A.’s turn.

The survey was conducted with participating firms in December 2018 to January 2019, and augmented by publicly available information. The survey requested information on firms’ development projects completed in the past 18 months and current on-the-boards development projects within downtown L.A., Arts District, Culver City, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Long Beach, and Pasadena. The overall ranking, based on all applicable information available at the time, as interpreted by Docservis, is an evaluation of the top 50 firms based on their total square footage of development projects completed in the past 18 months combined with ones the firms are currently working on. Ties are broken by number of projects. The data was compiled and analyzed by the Docservis market research staff in New York, led by Wing Leung, research director.
